Stand Together: Holocaust Memorial

With the increasing division in communities across the UK, Union Chapel will be commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day with the 2020 theme: Stand Together.

This theme will aid in exploring how genocidal regimes throughout history have fractured societies by marginalising certain groups. In the same vein, this event will also explore the tactics used throughout history and today’s present day to stand together and challenge oppressive policies, hostility and prejudices against certain groups.

We will be remembering the six million Jews murdered by the Holocaust as well as millions of other people killed and persecuted under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia and the current hostile political climate in Eritrea.

There will be powerful testimonies from Bosnian and Holocaust genocide survivors, performances from the Roma Band, Romany Diamonds  from Music International as well talks from representatives of organisations that support survivors of genocide.
