The Lawson Trio gives frequent performances for music societies nationwide throughout the year, and has appeared for numerous festivals, including Cambridge, Chester, and the Lake District Summer Music Festivals as well as performing at Londonšs South Bank Centre. Peformances abroad include those at Kuhmo International Chamber Music Festival in Finland, as winners of the ACE Study Tours Scholarship, where the trio was awarded the Kees Wiebenga Diploma for best chamber music performance, and at the Bayerischen Rundfunk
in Munich. In 2006, the trio studied extensively with the Florestan Trio,
both in their London masterclass series and also in Aldeburgh, having been awarded a full scholarship by the BrittenPears Young Artist Programme.
Prior to this, the Lawson Trio has studied with such eminent musicians as Michael Dussek, the Endellion, Chilingirian and Fitzwilliam Quartets, Trio Ondine, Christopher Rowland, Valentin Berlinsky, Konstantin Bogino, Sigmund Nissel, Ian Brown, Andrew West, and Douglas Boyd.
Keen to explore unusual and themed programmes, the Lawson Trio includes a wide selection of contemporary and lesser-known works in its repertoire, alongside the more familiar masterworks of the piano trio genre.
Since early 2006, the Lawson Trio has worked alongside the Schubert Ensemble of London in promoting Chamber Music 2000, a contemporary music project which will sees the trio giving workshops of especially commissioned works, by many of the country's leading composers, in schools and colleges around the country.
