REVERE
“One of the best bands you’ve never heard of…” – The Guardian
“Gospel for the space age generation” – The Times
It is becoming increasingly difficult to categorise music by REVERE. Incorporating violin, cello, keys, trumpet and harp into a three guitar-led sound, REVERE touch on numerous musical reference points, combining elements of gypsy marches, klezmer, post rock, film scores and gospel into a truly unique sound.
Live, REVERE play with an unparalleled intensity, working songs from music-box soft openings into relentless walls of sound shot through with a show-stopping falsetto.
SAM BEER
Sam Beer has the potential to be one of the mostimportant singer/songwriters of his generation. Although he has quickly established himself as one of the leading artists on the London folk/acoustic scene, Sam is more than just a folk singer, he is a master of his trade and his songs appeal to a wide variety of musical tastes. By consistently dazzling audiences with his repertoire of both technically skilled and heart warming songs, he has built a loyal fan base. Think of an English Ray LaMontagne, but with an honesty of lyrics and technical skill that far surpasses... you are now entering Sam Beer territory. Sam currently plays alongside Dan See on drums/percussion & Dan Gullino on electric bass.
GABBY YOUNG AND OTHER ANIMALS
"The effervescing Gabby Young took to the stage; her bright red hair blinded the audience as it reflected the stage lighting into our eyes. Perhaps it is the fact that we have become rabbits trapped in her headlights that she became instantly mezmerising. Or maybe not! Maybe it's because she is just pretty good. With the wave of female musicians from the UK capturing the hearts of the world, one may ask if any more singer songwriter types are needed to add to the list, however Gabby Young is a welcome addition. Her affair with good old-fashioned porch step blues is as obvious as her hidden collection of Tori Amos CDs, but a good variety of influence is without doubt the key to a successful writer. Her voice is drenched in emotive diatribe and soars to cracking point on a number of occasions, before she takes the pace and sound to a near whisper on others." (Oliver Guy Watkins, Big Shot Mag Oct 07)
MARY HAMPTON
"At a time when it sometimes seems that one cannot move for new folk, free folk, freak folk, weird folk, outsider folk and goodness knows what else, it's an unqualified joy to discover a collection of songs that sit proudly and uncomplicatedly within the folk tradition. And yet, while Mary Hampton's debut CD ... certainly derives much of its appeal from its appropriation of centuries-old folk idioms, it is certainly no museum piece. Its unearthly radiance and undercurrents of desolate modernity transform it into a vital and contemporary living document_" (Sound Projector, issue 15, 2007)
