Daylight Music
Following a successful 2009, Daylight Music returns in February with a fantastic series of Saturday lunchtime events. Presented by Union Chapel and produced by Arctic Circle to act as a unique performance platform for both up and coming and already established musicians, Daylight brings many varied acts to the beautiful gothic surroundings of Islington's Union Chapel. This season showcases a wealth of talented singer songwriters to those who bring electronic soundscapes from their computer to the chapel’s stage.
Always on the lookout for new music, Daylight strives to bring you a diverse line up. Highlights of this season include appearances from North Sea Radio Orchestra offshoot Arch Garrison, the music box melodies of Hannah Peel and much praised (and extremely long named) Tim and Sam's Tim and the Sam's Band. For a Valentine's weekend treat Daylight brings you Kitsch In Sync, an acapella choir performing unique arrangements of your favourite 80s hits. These appear alongside avante-garde contemporary classical group Firefly. Daylight Music certainly strives to be diverse in nature!
Later in the season The Guildhall Saxophone Ensemble make a welcome return to the Union Chapel stage following last year's brilliant performance, with Message to Bears and Marthas and Arthurs providing reinterpreted 60s folk and their own brand of chamber pop. The wonderful Sundown Multimedia will once again be providing a variety of acts from spoken word to quirky pop in the form of The Candle Thieves.
These are just a handful of the superb acts appearing at this season's Daylight. As well as some excellent music you can also enjoy lunch and a cup of tea from the Union Chapel's very own Margins cafe whilst soaking up the relaxed atmosphere. Your weekend has never started so well.
