baptism

Baptisms take place by arrangement during our morning service at 11 a.m. on Sundays (not the first Sunday in the month). We have an open policy, welcoming people from beyond our own church membership. However, we do ask you to attend church for up to six Sundays before the baptism service, so that you can get used to the Chapel and get to know the congregation.

Before the service, the minister will visit you to make arrangements. You will be invited to share in planning the service, choosing hymns and readings, and any other elements you wish to include.

We carry out baptisms for all ages. If the person to be baptized is an infant, the parents are asked to make a commitment, which will be discussed with them. There are no regulations about godparents, but they will be asked to make a commitment. If the person to be baptized is old enough to answer for him/herself, s/he will make his/her own commitment.

There is no charge for baptisms, but a collection is taken at the service.
