Come to Chills in the Chapel: The Wicker Man
Our Halloween film screening this year is The Wicker Man and all money raised will go towards repairing our clock!
This remarkable film, often dubbed ‘the Citizen Kane of horror movies’ will be bought to life with a selection of live songs performed by Boe Huntress & Dizraeli.
The soundtrack which is central to the narrative of the film features 13 folk songs, many composed, arranged and recorded by Paul Giovanni specially for The Wicker Man. On the night 3 songs will be performed as live accompaniment to the film, including the beautiful Willow’s Song.
The film itself follows Police Sergeant Neil Howie (Edward Woodward) to the isolated island of Summerisle in search of a missing girl. There, he is shocked to find the locals, led by Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee), have converted to a form of paganism centred around sex and sacrifice. What could have happened to missing 12 year old Rowan Morrison, and what will happen to the sergeant?
Get 1970s best on, grab a creepy cocktail and come find out!
We’ll also be screening an episode of the cult TV series Tales of the Unexpected – The Flypaper. Introduced by Roald Dahl our chosen episode is a real spine chiller. It starts with the discovery of a body in a pond and follows school girl Sylvia Wilkinson on her bus journey home…
All money raised by this event will go towards repairing our iconic clock.
