He gained notoriety as bassist to Chick Corea and has since became known around the world as an influential double bassist and profound composer, every move Avishai Cohen makes routinely causes waves of critical praise. Avishai Cohen presents his latest album, Aurora, released by Blue Note. The music draws its source in the earth of his home country and at the crossroads of many cultures, Arab-Andalusian and Hebraic, it tells the story of Bedouins of the desert and speaks of life, love, youth and freedom, and imposes a grace beyond jazz, a bright blend of antique oriental music, flamenco and folk distilled with mastery.
