Daylight Music

A lazy Saturday afternoon with music, tea and cake

Daylight Music is our way of opening up Union Chapel to music lovers for free.

These wonderfully eclectic mini-gigs bring together amazing music, a magical, friendly atmosphere and homemade cakes in one of London’s finest venues.

Saturdays throughout the year from 12noon – 2pm

Daylight Music is free but donations are positively encouraged! We suggest £5, all of which goes to the running costs and expenses of bring these bands, from all over the country to the venue.

The team do take well deserved breaks throughout the year so if there is nothing showing on the listings do check back soon.

The 2016 seasons run Jan – March, May – July, End Sept – Early Dec with breaks in between.

Each Daylight Music is a unique experience. They bring an incredibly diverse programme of artists to the Chapel with music from every imaginable genre. Past highlights have included performances by artists from Nils Frahm to The London Bulgarian Choir, Frank Sidebottom to The Guildhall Saxophone Ensemble and Lisa Knapp to Lætitia Sadier. We’ve had Female Morris dancers (and accompanying horse), the Father Ted theme tune on our 140 year old organ and artists from as far away as Japan and the USA.

What’s more it is entirely staffed and run by a team of volunteers. Curator Ben Eshmade, of Arctic Circle, tirelessly seeks out and champions the most innovative and exciting musicians around. He and his team then get up on Saturday morning to make Daylight Music happen.

Daylight Music are always on the look out for new recruits to their merry band!

The Daylight Café team from The Margins Project are also on hand for the perfect start to your weekend with tea, coffee, bacon butties and homemade cakes. All profits go to The Margins Project.

Everyone’s welcome at Daylight Music and it’s the perfect place to introduce children to live music. It’s very family friendly, with a buggy park and a drawing area for everyone – regardless of age – to enjoy expressing themselves.
